The Rophine Field Group of Schools is set to embark on a significant partnership with the Kwale County government, channelling resources to bolster pediatric healthcare services at Msambweni Referral Hospital.

The partnership will see the acquisition of equipment valued at Ksh500,000, aimed specifically at enhancing the hospital’s capacity to treat young patients.
The initiative, according to the group’s CEO, Boniface Owiti, underscores Rophine Field’s commitment to corporate social responsibility, extending beyond education to actively contribute to the well-being of the community.
Speaking at an interview during a mini-marathon event to raise funds in Diani, Owiti said the organization’s goal is to make a tangible impact on the lives of children in the county.
“Our commitment to education goes hand-in-hand with our desire to see the next generation grow up healthy and well-equipped for the challenges of tomorrow,” he said.
Owiti noted that the children are the backbone of the economy, future leaders, and catalysts for change hence the initiative is part of ensuring they have access to the healthcare they deserve.
Msambweni Referral Hospital, which serves as a critical healthcare provider in Kwale County, has long faced numerous challenges.
The partnership will provide much-needed equipment, from advanced diagnostic tools to essential medical supplies, helping the hospital improve its service delivery for young patients.
According to Owiti, the new equipment is expected to reduce wait times, enhance diagnostic accuracy, and ultimately improve patient outcomes.
He said that aims to provide relief for both healthcare workers and families who rely on the hospital for pediatric services.
Rophine Field Group of Schools has implemented CSR projects over the years, addressing issues from environmental conservation to educational outreach for underprivileged communities.
However, this marks their first substantial foray into healthcare in the Diani Campus, setting a precedent for other educational institutions to follow.
Owiti said by actively addressing the community’s healthcare needs, the group hopes to inspire other organizations to support similar initiatives that will foster a healthier society and better education for all.
The CEO said Rophine Field Group of Schools recognizes that providing quality education involves nurturing students in an environment that promotes holistic well-being.
The schools were started in 2009 and have over 5000 students across the country.
Owiti promised to provide regular updates to the public, ensuring transparency and accountability in how the resources are allocated.
He said the group’s commitment to sustaining the program extends beyond a one-time donation.
Owiti revealed that the school has plans to explore more partnerships in health, education and other sectors to create long-term benefits for the Kwale community and the country at large.
The mini-marathon event featured two main race categories: a five-kilometre run designed for Early Childhood Development and Education to Junior Secondary School students, and a 12-kilometre race for senior participants.
Both categories attracted participants of varying age groups, adding to the diversity and enthusiasm of the event.
In addition to the marathon, there were exciting side activities that included a cycling competition, where participants showcased their endurance and skills along scenic routes, and a lively beach football tournament.
Each beach football team consisted of seven players, creating a fast-paced, action-packed experience that drew a crowd of spectators.
A parent, Mark Magolo, expressed his admiration for the event, adding that the combination of running, cycling, and beach football was not only thrilling but also played a big role in promoting physical fitness, teamwork, and community spirit.

Teachers and parents flag off cycling competition at the Rophine Field Groups of Schools in Diani, Kwale County on Sunday, October 27, 2024.
He said that the variety of activities added a unique charm to the event, creating an atmosphere where participants of all ages could come together and celebrate health and wellness.
Magolo commended the Rophine Field Group of Schools for spearheading the initiative, acknowledging the positive impact it would have on the community’s healthcare.
“This is more than just an event; it’s a step toward a healthier future for our children and a testament to Rophine Field’s commitment to community welfare,” he said.
He said that the funds raised through the event would strengthen the pediatric department at Msambweni Referral Hospital, ensuring that children in Kwale County receive quality medical attention.
