Leaders in Ruruma Kilifi County, are calling on the community in the area to unite and pave the way for roads among other development projects.

Rabai sub county Assistant County Commissioner 1, Sironka Masaa, warned individuals who are becoming a stumbling block in project implementation.

Speaking at Bofu chief camp in Rabai, Masaa noted that unsolved land disputes in the area have resulted not only under development but also elderly killings.

“I call upon all assistant chiefs and chiefs to address land issues in all ‘baraza’ as a way of getting a permanent solution to this problem. By advising the youth on the legal process on land inheritance.” Said Masaa.

According to the administrator, differences in land issues undermine efforts by the county government to introduce new roads that aimed at bringing services to the community.

Masaa maintained that despite the demarcation exercise which was conducted, there is a need for the community to volunteer parcels of land for the road network.

“ We cannot have development in any area if there is no road network. Everyone needs a road so no one should deny a road project from passing through his/her firm.” Noted the ACC.

Similar sentiments were echoed by Ruruma Ward Member of county Assembly, Naphtali Kombo, who revealed that Mawe Mabomu – Kasidi Road has been delayed due to land issues.

Kombo has warned Ruruma residents against playing politics in the project’s implementation process adding that they stand to lose.

“ It’s high time we work together and support the elected leaders in implementing projects, if we bring in our political differences to stop some projects we miss the target.” Advised the MCA

Kombo maintained that a working relationship between the community and elected leaders is a good recipe in addressing challenges in the society.

At the same time, Kombo who is also deputy speaker in the Kilifi County assembly, assured Ruruma farmers that issues surrounding tractors had been solved.

“As we resume assembly sittings from 10th of this month, plans to overcome the hurdle that had made our two tractors stalled at the office will be  overcome.” Revealed Kombo.

However, farmers called on a mechanism to ensure farm inputs are delivered to them at the appropriate time.

Led by Samuel Baya, urged the leadership to ensure subsidized fertilizers and seeds are delivered to farmers.

“ Government registered all the farmers; however, we are yet to quench our thirst of doing modern agriculture for maximum profit as we find it difficult to get the fertilizers at the NCPB on time due to poor economic challenges among rural farmers.” Revealed Baya who also urged the county government to step in to have the inputs delivered at sub county agricultural offices.
