    Tana River county is ready to Showcase its potential great investment on agribusiness and blue economy during the upcoming Jumuiya Agribusiness and blue economy conference.

    The annual conference JABEIC is hosted by Coast Economic Block, Jumuiya za Pwani (JKP) secretariat in collaboration with the six coast counties.

    Speaking in Malindi Godhana said that Tana River county is se to unlock its huge potential once investors from within and out of the country set to attend develop interest to do investment in the area.

    Among those expected to attend are President William Ruto who will give keynote address during the opening of the conference themed “Innovative Investments in Blue Economy, Urbanization and Regenerative Transformation”.

    He said that the county has not developed yet due to stereotype being peddled all along that it is still insecure which is not true.

    “I am here to assure participants of the conference that things have changed and even the conflicts between communities has become a thing of the past,” he said.

    According to Gothana for the last five years the region has never experienced tribal conflicts unlike before.

    “The whole world need to be told that Tana River is safe for all. Participants are assured of their security. We are experiencing peace in this area,” he added.

    “I am inviting local and international investors to attend the conference that is being held for the first time in the county. It is good to note that the county has the longest Coastal line in Kenya with untapped potentials in fisheries and agriculture since it hosts large irrigation schemes such as the Bura and Hola Irrigation Schemes, the Tana Delta Irrigation Project as well as the Galana/Kulalu Food Security Project,” added the governor.

    He added that Tana River boost of a very unique beach front from the Kwale and Kilifi that has a 74 kilometers shoreline that is not yet used.

    Tana River shoreline is unique because of its alluvial soils while Kwale and Kilifi have corals reefs, best region for the breeding of unique and almost all fish species.

    “We have the river and so many ox-bow lakes, almost 150 and very unique biodiversity,” he noted.

    Tana River, he said is one of the country’s food baskets if its recourses are well tapped.

    Meanwhile Rana River counry commissioner said that they are putting in place all plans to ensure conference participants are dafe.

    “We want to ensure that everyone attending the conference feel at home and that is assured from our side,” he said.

    They were also joined by Tana river County Director of Liaison and Intergovernmental Relations, Maureen Kadzo who said that all investors are welcome to partner in coming up with projects that are beneficial to the common mwananchi.

    “Our hands are opened to receive everyone with intention of investing in Tana Rover county,” she said.
