    Kitivo FC strikes Black Eagles down in Rashid Abdalla Super Cup finals

    Kitivo FC has floored Black Eagles FC to bag the fourth edition of the Rashid Abdallah Supercup in Waa, Kwale County.

    Two cracking goals from Hamis Sagio sealed a remarkable win for Kitivo against their opponents who gave their best but to no avail and resulted in a 2-0 victory.

    Kitivo’s resounding victory over Black Eagles was a huge relief for the vocal fans, who had become restless as the first half ended in a draw of 0-0.

    At the 57 and 63 minutes respectively of the second half, Sagio struck the opponent’s net to seal Kitivo’s win.

    Kitivo walked away with sh 1.5 Million and while the first runners-up received sh700,000.

    On Saturday Green Boys FC won sh300, 000 as the second runners-up after defeating Wailers FC.

    Green Boys FC scored 2-0 against Wailers FV who fought hard to reach the finals but were thwarted in the semi-finals.

    In today’s match, Mohammed Ngare from Green Boys FC was crowned the top scorer for scoring a total of seven goals in the Rashid Abdallah Supercup league.

    The best goalkeeper was given to Sulean Mwasiri from Kitivo FC and Sagio was awarded as the most promising player.

    During the speeches, African Club Association chairman Said Hersi urged the Kenyan government to improve on sports infrastructure to effectively nurture and support talents.

    Hersi said without proper infrastructure it will be hard for young talented youth to showcase and sharpen their skills.

    “The government and all the stakeholders have a responsibility to invest in infrastructure to support talents,” he said.

    He said investing in nurturing talents is key to a thriving economy and uplifting the lives of the youth.

    The President of Yanga FC said the tournament has showcased various youth’s talents and requires a conducive environment for mentorship and nurturing.

    He said the region is rich in talent and can be well cultivated if proper infrastructure is put in place, especially stadiums.

    Hersi said the government should construct and improve football pitches for talented youth to realize their dreams.

    Mining CS Salim Mvurya said the government has prioritized nurturing talents.

    He said the Kenya Kwanza government is working on improving the status of stadia and providing various opportunities for youth to showcase and develop their talents.

    Mvurya said President William Ruto and other East African Presidents Samia Suluhu (Tanzania) and Yoweri Museveni (Uganda) are looking forward to improving East African football through cross-border and regional leagues.

    The Mining CS emphasized youth take advantage of the leagues to showcase their talents and improve their lives.

    Governor Fatuma Achani said her administration is committed to supporting the youth talents through sports.

    She said the multimillion Kwale stadium is almost ready and soon the county football will be on an international level.

    “Our stadium is yet to be completed, and my administration supports sports, ” she said.

    Achani said she recognizes the importance of sports in eradicating drugs, teen pregnancies and insecurity.

    She also urged the football clubs to form companies to enable youth to get government tenders to support their initiatives and improve local football.

    In the afternoon popular Tanzanian musician Mboso, Taarab singer Leyala Rashid and Khadija Yusuf among others entertained the fans to the fullest.
