The government has set aside Sh1.1 billion this year to compensate victims of the wild-life conflicts, according to Tourism Cabinet Secretary Peninah Malonza. Presently there are 2,600 claims which have not been paid for. Speaking at University of Embu during the World Tourism Day celebrations, Ms Malonza said the government is committed to ensure the victims are paid before the end of the year. At least two people were severely injured following a land dispute tussle between two clans in Samburu, Kwale County. According to the area OCPD Fredrick Ombaka, the incident happened on Monday near Kinagoni market within Samburu. Ombaka told Coast Times Digital  that the dispute is between Mwachanda and Mwadzine Wanzira clans. They are fighting over ownership of a piece of land. LA lobby has said that corruption and poor governance are hurting the development of the water sector in Kenya.  Kenya Water for Health organization programs coordinator Felix Brian said many small water supply systems and water projects have stalled because people embezzled the projects’ funds. At least over 2000 youths in Kwale County have been trained and transformed through a mental health awareness and empowerment program dubbed the Kumekucha Quest. Most of the youth had once given up on life and were going through depression, drug abuse, and others had dropped out of school and some were victims of teen pregnancies. The program is run by a coastal youth affairs organization based in Kwale known as Samba Sports Youth Agenda.
