Kwale governor Fatuma Achani has retained four executive members who served during the former governor Salim Mvurya in her cabinet line up. In a list send to the county assembly for vetting purpose, Achani has retained health CEC Francis Gwama, former Roads and acting water CEC Hemed Mwabudzo, Environment and administration CEC Saumu Beja and finance CEC Bakari Sebe. Religious leaders want full involvement on matters distribution of relief food to about 3.5 millions Kenyans by the national and county governments. About 23 counties are experiencing lack of rains with Kenyans going without food for days Kwale being among those that have been hard hit by drought. Base Titanium in collaboration with Msambweni Community Development Agreement Committee CDAc have launched an Economic Empowerment Fund aimed at financing start-ups and small enterprises in Kwale County. The kitty that targets women, youth groups and persons with disability will be utilized to fund working capital for groups in Msambweni Sub-County through grants and interest free loans. A total of 468 primary school girls have benefitted from free sanitary pads distribution exercise in Kwale undertaken by Bethel Network in a project dubbed Always Keeping Girls in School. Base Titanium in collaboration with Kwale county government on Wednesday distributed relief food to over 1650 households in five villages within Macknon ward that have been affected by drought. The villages include mwangaza ,Donje,Kizingo A and B, and Ryakalui. The relief food included 1650 bags consisting of 8kgs of maize flour, beans 8kgs and a liter of cooking oil among others. Mwembeni residents in Samburu Chengoni ward that were recently evicted by a private developer also received 50 bags of the relief food.
