    Daini mob justice leave a 17 years old ‘panga boy ‘ dead after morning attack of traders

    A 17 years old suspected juvenile gang member was stoned to death by angry residents at Mvindeni in Diani after attacking a woman and her husband on Wednesday morning.

    The two are said to have been on their way to the Mvindeni market when the 5:30 am incident occurred.

    The irate members of the public also burnt the suspect’s body before police arrived.

    Msambweni Police Commander Francis Gachoki confirmed the incident saying the deceased Shamzi Hamaza together with his colleagues had allegedly attacked the couple.

    “I received a call from the Chairman Mvindeni market, Mr. Juma Marobe about the attack. Oher gang members in possession of machetes managed to escape during the incident after members of public responded to a distress call,” he said.

    Monica Arende aged 35 years was attacked and one of her toes injured before raising an alarm to the public who stoned and later burning the suspect.

    “The suspect’s body was taken to Mwambweni County Referral Hospital Mortuary for postmortem,” he added.

    He said that police are investigating the incident with aim of apprehending the other gang members.

    Diani has been experiencing juvenile gangs with residents living in fear of attacks.

    Many who have spoke to Coast Times Digital painted a picture of armed youths who reign terror on locals with security doing nothing to end the problem.

    The incident has forced traders and residents in Diani to device way of ensuring they are protected by forming community security groups.

    Despite police increasing patrols the juvenile gangs commonly known as panga boys have continued to terrorise Diani residents either early in the morning or at night.

    Many business people are forced to close early to avoid falling victims of panga attacks.
