    Diani lovers vacation turns tragic as man drowns while swimming

    Beth Linet has been left hopeless and broken after her lover Derick Gathengi who had gone out to swim in a rough waters drowned.

    A heartbreaking video has emerged in the social media of her struggling to hold herself back from jumping into the water while her lover’s body floated from a distance.

    This took place while her friends tried to prevent her from jumping into the ocean to try and save his lifeless Derick Gathengi body.

    In her Tiktok account while mourning Beth says she will be going back home alone unfortunately despite travelling to Diani with her lover.

    It is claimed that the two had checked into one of the apartments in Diani for a holiday last weekend with what was expected to be a merry making expedition turned tragic.

    This is after Derick decided to swim in the evening along the beach rough water drowining as friends watched helplessly.

    Her followers some from Kwale county said that it was not possible to save Derick since the incident happened during full moon majorly a high and rough tides.

    “There is no way anyone could save him. Even the best swimmers cannot dare such waves they are dangerously rough” said one of the social media user.

    Although Kwale county government has deployed rescue team along the beach locals in Kwale said there is a need for increasing the number as well as distributing life savers equipment.
