Kilifi County Government has successfully established 24 procurement entities to bolster transparency and efficiency in its operations.
The area Governor Gideon Mung’aro said the creation of the procurement entities marks a major milestone in the county’s efforts to streamline procurement processes and ensure that all financial activities are conducted with the highest standards of accountability.
He said each entity is designed to handle specific procurement needs, thereby decentralizing the process.
“The primary objectivesl is to enhance transparency by decentralizing procurement, making the process more transparent and allowing for better oversight to reduce the risk of corruption,” he said.
He said the establishment of multiple entities should ensure that procurement activities are handled more swiftly and effectively thus meeting the needs of various departments without unnecessary delays.
Mung’aro said each procurement entity is tailored to address the unique requirements of different sectors, ensuring that procurement processes are more relevant and effective.
“With clear responsibilities and oversight mechanisms in place, the procurement entities are expected to enhance accountability in the use of public funds,” he added.
Mung’aro  emphasized the importance of the entities in achieving the county’s financial goals.
He said they are committed to ensuring transparency and efficiency and that every shilling is accounted for.
Mungaro spoke in a meeting with his staff in Diani, Kwale County.
The meeting was meant to discuss on the challenges and future plans of Kilifi County.
The meetings also marked the beginning of the financial audit process that will involve thorough scrutiny of the county’s financial records.
Mung’aro said the County Government’s proactive approach is expected to set a benchmark for other counties.
“The audit will ensure that every department in Kilifi county is held accountable. As we bring transparency and efficiency in public administration.” he said.
