The Kudzecha Women Limited Company in Lungalunga Sub County has secured a six-month tender worth Ksh 1.9 million from the Kwale County Government to clean and maintain the Lungalunga Town.

The local enterprise has been entrusted with the responsibility of cleaning key public areas like the market area, maintaining the town’s drainage system, planting trees among others.

Kwale County Governor Fatuma Achani has praised the efforts of the Women and youth enterprises across the County, highlighting the importance of involving local businesses in county development initiatives.

“This project aligns with our long-term goals of fostering inclusive economic growth and environmental responsibility across Kwale County,” said Achani.

Kwale County has so far registered over 300 Women and youth based Companies, with at least 100 enterprises securing direct tenders from the County Government.

According to Kudzecha Company Director Mercy Kinago, the Lungalunga Municipality which is located near the Kenya-Tanzania border, has enhanced business activities between the locals and neighbouring Tanzania, boosting the economy of the region.

“We are committed to creating a cleaner, healthier environment for the residents of Lungalunga as this town not only serves as a business point for us, but also attracts investors from Tanzania,” said Kinago.

Mwanasiti Mnyeto, a member of the company, expressed her gratitude to Governor Fatuma Achani’s administration , stating that, the tender not only offers a sustainable solution for waste management and environmental conservation in Lungalunga Town, but it also empowers the local women entrepreneurs in Kwale.

“This is a huge win for us as a group of women entrepreneurs, and it’s also a great chance to set an example for other women in the region,” she added.

As the efforts to uplift the livelihood for the thousands of unemployed women and youths across the County, Achani has directed all the 10 devolved functions to consider local based Companies for different project tenders
