Kwale County Commissioner Michael Mwangi Meru has cautioned residents to be extra careful as heavy rains continue to pound in most parts of the country.
On Thursday floods had affected most areas in Kwale as several rivers burst their banks.
Some of the flooded rivers include Perani, Ramisi, Umba, Mkurumudzi, Mwena and Mbadi among others.
Some areas in Ukunda were also affected by the clogged water that flooded villages and roads.
Mwangi said transport activities were hampered for several hours in various areas as overflowing water rivers swallowed bridges. The most affected areas were Kinango and Lunga-Lunga sub-counties.
“All the rivers in the county were on Thursday flooded and glad no deaths were reported and I would like to caution residents not to dare crossing the flooded rivers,” he said.
Mwangi said the heavy downpour also affected the delivery of the KCPE examination papers in various schools as roads became impassable due to flooded rivers and mud.
He said it took four hours for the examination papers to reach their destination and added that stern measures have been put in place to keep the exams undisrupted.

He told the locals to avoid potholes and mud sliding areas as well as mines to curb disasters.
