The Mackinon Border dispute between Kwale County and Taita Taveta County is totally unwarranted and uncalled for, nominated senator Raphael Chimera has said.

“Our people must be allowed to freely trade and interact with others without any fear of intimidation & threats from our good neighbours,” he said.

He made the remarks after  engaging Senator Okiya Omtatah saying that he has filed a Petition on behalf of traders from Taita Taveta touching on the Mackinon Boundary Dispute.

“We have agreed as Senate to push for the establishment of a CoE to establish and interpret the proper boundaries between the two counties,” he added.

Chimera called on the people of Kwale County domiciled at Mackinon Road to maintain Law and Order as the county leadership and senate work on the issue.

He said they are working together with the leadership of the County Government to amicably resolve the boundary dispute.
