    Malindi family seek justice for 17 biy allegedly killed by police

    A family in Malindi, Kilifi county is pleading for justice for their loved one who was allegedly shot dead by a police officer in Maweni area.

    Speaking to the media ,the family of the deceased said that they received the news of the death of their loved one Jimmy Masmo Ngala. who had attended a wedding ceremony.
    The late Jimmy Masmo who was 17 years old and a candidate expecting to be sitting for the KPSEA exams had gone to a wedding ceremony in Maweni area with his cousins.
    According to the parents of the deceased, Jimmy met his death after police on patrol ordered them to introduce themselves on their way home as they engaged themselves with the police one of the officers drew his gun and shot Jimmy on his chest and died on the spot.
    The parents and family members claim that their loved one was not a criminal and therefore plead with the government for justice for their kin.
    Human rights activists led by Victor Kaudo from Malindi social justice center called on the inspector general of police and IPOA to investigate the incidents so that the family can get justice.
    Mr Kaudo lamented on recent abductions and killings in the country suspected to be done by police officers saying Kenyans have right to life and therefore should not be subjected to such inhuman acts.
    Confirming the incident Malindi sub county police commander Joss Mudavadi said that the boy was shot dead after attacking police officers with a machete. Mr Mudavadi further stated that the matter is already under investigation by IPOA.
    The body of the deceased is preserved at the Malindi sub county mortuary waiting for postmortem examinations.
