Kilifi governor Gideon Mung’aro his deputy Flora Chibulee assume office

    By Johnson Chengo

It was a new era in Kilifi after the second Governor Gideon Mung’aro and his deputy Flora Chibule officially assumed office.

As they did that , former Governor Amson Kingi and his deputy Gideon Saburi exited, ending Governor Amason Kingi s ten years tenure.

The new county principal and his deputy assumed their offices located at a small distance away from each other displaying excitement and color ahead of their new assignment.

Governor Mung’aro while assuming office was accompanied by Kilifi senator Stewart Madzayo,Woman Rep Getrude Mbeyu,David Murathe who is Jubilee vice chairman and also an investor in KILIFI.

He was received by the outgoing governor Amason Kingi and led to office where he officially started business.

The office was prayed for by Kilifi ACK Bishop Reuben Katite.

On Friday evening, Chibule was also taken into a tour of her new office by the outgoing DG Gideon Saburi as they exchanged excited moments.

Speaking to the media, Chibule said she was happy and her hope is to serve the people of Kilifi.

“As the first female deputy governor, the female gender my chance and opportunity is to make sure that women and children matters in the county get the maximum attention they deserve,” she said.

She said that she was determined to improve and elevate the level of education within the county currently performing poorly.

“Together with the private sector we shall set to improve education scholarship programs so as to ensure that no bright minds in Kilifi were left in their homes for lack of school fees,” she said.

On his part the out-going deputy governor Gideon Saburi expressed confidence in the new Deputy Governor, praising her for displaying a lot of leadership skills during the campaigns.

“I am very happy for you in your new role and I  urged you to focus on bringing true change to the people of Kilifi,” he said.

He urged  Chibule and Governor Mung’aro to work together as a team and move ahead to fulfill the vision of the people as they promised during campaigns.

“During our times, several Governors clashed with their deputies and at one time it brought a bad picture around the country. Kindly we don’t want such a scenario but rather a development oriented team just as you have been,” he said.

After being sworn in as the second governor at the Karirisa Maitha ground  by justice Georgr Dulu, Mung’aro promises a consultative, participatory and inclusive approach to handling the affairs of the county government.

In 2017, Mung’aro failed to clinch the top seat after being defeated by out-going governor Amason Kingi who had finished his two terms.

Mung’aro promised to work with his opponents in order to steer the county forward.

He also lauded his close competitors Aisha Jumwa of UDA and George Kithi {PAA} for challenging each other on issue- based politics.

”I want to congratulate my opponents for engaging in issue based campaigns. Let’s work together for the betterment of our people, kilifi is more important than any other person.
