    President William Ruto preside over upgrading of Mkongani Health Center to a level 4 hospital in Kwale

    President William Ruto presided over the upgrading of Mkongani Health Center to a level 4 Hospital, official opening of the operating theatre, General Ward and commissioning of the new X-ray block.
    The face-lifting and the new projects initiated by Kwale County government are expected to ease the burden of the residents to travel in search of specialized treatment and medication.
    The Mkongani level 4 Hospital will now be conducting specialized consultant services for over 1500 expectant mothers monthly, intervening at an early stage of pregnancy further reducing the mobility and mortality of pregnant mothers.
    The facility that has a catchment of over 10,000 residents in eight villages including; Mkongani A, Mkongani B,Vumirira,Goyo among others will now perform major surgical procedures such as cesarean sections, hernia repairs, and appendectomies.
    Having a theatre and medical officers in Mkongani Hospital means surgical interventions will be managed onsite without referring to Kwale Hospital that is 40 kilometers away.

    Addressing residents at Mkongani in Matuga Sub-County, President Ruto has reaffirmed his government commitment to improve health services across the Country through collaboration with the County Governments.
    President has urged the residents to register with the Social Health Authority (SHA )that will reduce the burden of paying huge medical bills for their families.
    “I will give 30 million to your Governor Fatuma Achani to help in upgrading this Hospital so that residents can get good services,”Ruto added
    On her part Kwale County Governor Fatuma Achani said her Government has upgraded Kwale, Lungalunga,Samburu and Kinango to level 4 hospitals while Msambweni was upgraded to a referral hospital to deal with specialized treatment including ICU dialysis, Tuberculosis Culture, Specialized Dental services, specialized ANC,Smear Microscopy among other services.
     Achani further said that her administration has brought health services closer to Mwananchi through construction and equipping of health facilities and employment of enough medical practitioners.
    “So far we have built over 178 dispensaries and employed over 1800 health workers and over 1600 Community Health Workers across the County to ensure that residents access health with ease,”she added
    Kassim Tandaza Matuga Member of Parliament has commended the County government for the remarkable efforts in transforming the health sector since the inception of devolution.
    In attendance were; Cabinet Secretary for Health Deborah Mulongo, Sports CS Salim Mvurya, Deputy Governor Chirema Kombo, County Secretary Slyvia Chidodo, Deputy Government Spokesperson Mwanaisha Chidzuga Kwale County CECs, Chief Officers, Matuga MP Kassim Tandaza County Assembly Speaker Seth Mwatela,MCAs among Government from National and County Government.
