A 22-year-old student from Mbuguni village in Mteza, Kwale County is appealing for financial assistance to raise Sh258, 550 in tuition fees to enable her return to school after deferring her studies at Pwani University.

Amina Dzame Chimera , a first-year Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Public Health student, has been out of school for the last four months after failing to raise the required amount to sit her end-of-semester exams.

Speaking to Coast Times Digital, Chimera’s father, Chimera Nzige who is 70-year-old and his wife  Nigasare Mwakuwewa said that they have no reliable source of income and they tried all their best but could not afford to raise the amount.

The family, living with 11 children, depends entirely on subsistence farming on a small plot of land that can only sustain them with food.

“I don’t have a job or any other source of income, and we rely on our small scale farm to feed the family. We appeal to well-wishers to help us raise our daughter’s school fees,” said Chimera’s father.

Chimera, who scored a B plain at Matuga Girls High School, had previously benefited from the Kwale county government scholarship throughout her secondary education.

She had hoped for continued support in university, but the county bursary scheme was suspended immediately after joining campus following a directive by the Controller of Budget, leaving her without options.

“I had also pinned all my hopes on HELB to cover my fees, but no money has been disbursed since my application.’’ I’m appealing to well-wishers to support me so I can continue with my studies and fulfill my dream of helping my society,” said Chimera.

She is now appealing for well-wishers to support her so she can continue with her studies and fulfill her dreams of becoming a certified nurse.

The family is calling on well-wishers to support them and can be reached through the phone number 0715631160, registered to Chimera Nzige.
