Salim Mvurya the Sports cabinet secretary has donated food stuff to locals in Kwale ahead of Eid celebration while calling residents to maintain peace.

Mvurya said that president William Ruto is committed to support Muslim faithful across the country during Ramadhan with food stuff for Iftaar and Eid celebration.

He made the remarks at Kwale town when he flagged a consignment of food to Imams across the six sub-counties of Kwale county, who will ensure it reaches Muslim faithful ahead of the Eid celebrations.

The food will be distributed to Muslim faithful in designated mosques across the county.

The CS urged Muslim faithful to celebrate Eid according to the religion and avoid issues that would drive them away from their faith.

“In Kwale and other counties the president decided to give food to Muslim faithful’s ahead of the end of Ramadhan,” he said.

Mvurya who was accompanied by Matuga MP Kassim Tandaza and Kwale county commissioner Stephen Orinde also distributed food to locals who had gathered to witness the exercise at Tsimba Golini ward.

“And those who came here I have made arrangements for you to get something as you go back to wait for the consignment,” he said.

The government has announced Monday 31 March 2025 as holiday for Muslim to celebrate Eid.

Some of the food items distributed include Rice, Beans, Wheat flour among others as Muslim across the country prepare to end their one month Ramadhan fasting season before Monday next week.

Mvurya said that a broad based government is working well for the country with leaders coming together.

“President William Ruto is embracing a broad based government and that is why we are urging you down here to unite and shun political and tribal differences because the government serves all the people,” he added.

He urged Kenyans to support president William Ruto and Kwale governor Fatuma Achani as well as members of parliament who are serving them in the area.

“Don’t listen to those who are opposing this government, there are those who were in government but they did not do proper calculation and now they have issues,” he claimed without mentioning names.
