The once Giant sleepy Kwale town may be forced to wake up in the next four months as president William Rutos will be presiding over Mashujaa day at the newly constructed Kwale Stadium.

Traders have been notified to prepare renovating their business premises in readiness to host the national event.

Those operating under shanty roofs have been told to either build their shops and make them presentable or demolish them.

It is not a request to have Kwale town sparkling with good looking structures but a directive to be implemented in the few coming months to the Mashujaa day.

The damaged roads within and outside the town are also expected to be repaired to give the town a new face.

Some of the traders who attended a briefing meeting over the Mashujaa plans for Kwale County told Coast Times Digital that Kwale is set to benefit a lot from the event.

Bar owners operating without enough stock were told to make a mandatory in ensuring they have stocked business due to traffic that will be there in the next three months.

“We were asked to stock enough goods in our business because those preparing Mashujaa day celebrations will be living here and they will require services,” Coast Times Digital was told.

All types of business within Kwale town are set to benefit as security officials and national government operators planning for the success of the national event will pitch tents in Kwale.

“We have started looking for enough girls to increase the number of waiters in our business because of that plan,” Coast Times Digital heard one of the bar owners in Kwale saying.

Land lords were advised to repair their houses and make them comfortable since they will be occupied in the next three months until after Mashujaa day.

It is also believed that prostitute business will also come in handy.

“Those with girls were advised to take care of them to avoid getting pregnant and be left behind to take care of babies they had not planned for. We have men who will be here for the next three months, away from their wives. Even those with wives have been advised to take care,” the discussion went further.

Kwale County Governor Fatuma Achani met technical team organizing this year’s National  Mashujaa Day celebrations in her office.

The Technical team was led by Anne Ngetich principal Administrative Secretary in the Ministry of interior asked the county leadership to start preparing to host the national event.

Governor Achani assured the technical team of her administration support on the scheduled National Day celebrations, and commended President William Ruto for choosing Kwale County to host the National Event.

“Hosting National Mashujaa Day Celebrations in Kwale Will open up Kwale to many  opportunities and boost tourism sector due to the high number of guests who will be visiting Kwale for that day” Achani Said.

The technical team both from the National Government and County Government have already inspected Kwale Main Stadium at Kinarini ,in Matuga Sub county where the celebrations are expected to be held.

Kwale Main Stadium is still under construction and is expected to be complete before October this year before Mashujaa day.

The stadium, is expected to have a seating capacity of about 40,000 people.

Kwale town traders have welcomed President William Ruto move to pick Kwale in hosting the Mashujaa day saying it is going to boost many business.

This is the first time Kwale County will host a national public holiday and the second time a coastal county will host a national event.

Mashujaa Day celebrations are held annually to honour the heroes and heroines who contributed to Kenya’s struggle for independence and those who have positively impacted the country post-independence.
