The Matatu Owners Association in Kilifi county have condemned the office of the director of public prosecutions ODPP and the police for failure to prosecute on a case where a section of the matatu association members were brutally assaulted and seriously injured by a gang of men outside the Malindi municipal offices gate.

Led by Badawi Mohamed the Malindi Matatu Owners Association chairman stated that after the incident was reported to authorities, the suspect who was recorded in a video was arrested and later released.
He said that the suspect well known was taken to court after the incident had happened the previous day but they were surprised to find that the charge sheet or file was not presented in court.
The office of the director of public prosecutions directed that the matter be investigated in a seven days period.
Later the members who were attacked were shocked to receive a statement from the ODPP that the matter did not have enough evidence for prosecutions to proceed .
They are now calling for the inspector general’s of police and ODPP to investigate the matter saying there has been laxity In prosecutions of cases.
