Three students from Lamu County who excelled in 2022 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education examinations were airlifted from Manda Airport after receiving a fully funded scholarship by KDF in collaboration with local administration.

The three are Nathaniel Chanzera,17 years, Ryan Karisa, 16  years and Ali Mohamed, 15 years

The students joining Moi Forces Academy (MFA) were seen off by Commander Operation Amani Boni (OAB) Col. Joel Tanui and Lamu West constituency manager Mr. Jeremiah Murimi.

Addressing the students before taking off, Col. Tanui congratulated them for their outstanding performance, urged the students to continue working hard to elevate their families and give back to society.

“Education remains the key to elevate you as an individual and the society at large to greater heights”, he said and wished them a safe flight.

Parents accompanying the student thanked KDF for their generosity and for giving their children an opportunity to aim for the stars.

“Remember your backgrounds and work extra hard to change the situation at home. You should also work hard to achieve your goals”, said Mkuu Shelali, a parent from Kizingitini village.

Lamu West Constituency manager Jeremiah Murimi thanked the KDF for supporting the needy students who hail from poor families to further their studies in KDF schools.

“I assure you of more collaboration with KDF with our office and further efforts and timely support to other needy students from Lamu by disbursing bursary”, said Murimi.

Scholarships are part of the local population-centered approach by KDF in collaboration with local authorities in empowering the locals and strengthening cooperation towards eradication of terrorism.
