\n“The Sub County Criminal Investigation Officer Kilifi North, OCS and other officers\u00a0 visited the cell and found the deceased body lying on the floor close to the door of the cells with is boxer nearby,” reads the report.<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\nThe police report further claims that Pauline Akinyi Okeyo, the deceased wife had brought food to her husband when they discovered the deceased body was\u00a0 lying close to the cell door,\u00a0 his neck tied by a boxer.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n“Police tried untying the boxer from the neck only to realize that his body was motionless,\u201d added the report that has shocked the family.<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\nIt is claimed that the deceased was arrested for allegedly attempted arson and taken to Chasimba police station.<\/div>\n<\/div>\nHis father Lewa Tinga told Coast Times Digital the government must intervene and ensure justice to the family.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\nHAKI Africa program officer Mathias Shipeta called on DCI, IPOA, and all investigating bodies to unravel the truth for the family and the world to what caused Lewa death.<\/div>\n<\/div>\nAfter being arrested on 31 December 2022 Lewa was found dead on 2 January 2023, a situation the family is yet to come to terms with.<\/div>\n<\/div>\nWhen Coast Times Digital visited the family, the deceased wife Pauline was still in shock over the death.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n
- “I visited Chonyi Police Station to give my husband food only to find him dead.\u00a0 The\u00a0 officers who were on duty laughed at me when i told them i had come to give him food. I asked them to call him but instead they broke into laughters, ” he narrated.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
<\/div>\nAccording to her, one of the officers then agreed to take her to the police cells where she found her husband lying as foam came out of his mouth with folded hand.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n“I was shocked and examined him realised that there was a boxer on his neck to\u00a0 mean he had committed suicide. Police refused to rush him to hospital and that is when I also learnt that he had some injuries on his back,” said\u00a0 troubled Akinyi.<\/div>\n<\/div>\nThe mother of four wants full investigation into the matter conducted thoroughly by all concerned groups for justice to prevail claiming that his husband was killed.<\/div>\n<\/div>\nShe said that her husband was the only breadwinner in the family.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n“I have a breastfeeding child and i dont know how i will take care of the rest. I relied on my husband and washing cloths job for the police at Chonyi police station.
