He said that the Shakahahola killings are issues of International crime against humanity which require more time to investigate.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

He made the remarks at the Malindi Sub County Hospital while launching phase two of postmortem examinations for 129 bodies of the Shakahola cult.<\/span><\/p>\n

“The government has upscaled the search and rescue operation by deploying more personnel and technology within the entire 50,000 acres of the Chakama Ranch which include the 800 acres believed to be belonging to Mr. Mackenzie,” he noted.<\/p>\n

The extension of curfew orders within the ranch for another 30 days was also announced during his visit.<\/span><\/p>\n

He warned that government officers who will be found to have been complicit would in addition to being dismissed from service be charged.<\/span><\/p>\n

He said a total of 241 people have so far died in the debacle, including five skeletons that were found in the forest after the exhumation was suspended a week ago and another victim died in hospital after refusing to eat.<\/p>\n

He said the search and rescue team had discovered more graves within the Shakahola thickets adding that the exhumation of more bodies would commence after the second phase of postmortems.<\/p>\n
