Kenya Kwanza Leaders in Kwale County led by Governor Fatuma Achani alleged that recent protests in Diani and some parts of Kwale were sponsored by the 2022 General election political losers and Civil societies with godfathers who have political interest from the neighbouring County of Mombasa.

The leaders condemned protests in Diani, following the passage of the finance bill by Members of the national Assembly that led to massive destruction of properties, loss of lives and closure of bussinesses in Diani.

Addressing over 1500 parents receiving bursary cheques by Msambweni NG-CDF at Ukunda Showground , Achani termed the demonstrations in Kwale County as political motivated that gave room for the criminal gangs in Diani to reign terror on residents and visitors negativly affecting the tourism sector.

“I want to inform people categorically Kwale County is not a Subcounty of Mombasa County and i shall not allow outsiders to meddle with Kwale affairs and causing mayhem and terror,it shall not happen under my watch. “Achani Said

The Governor further put on notice civil Societies operating in Kwale sensationally claiming that some were used to sponsor protests that turned out to be destructive hugely affecting the Kwale economy.

“Let these Civil societies do their jobs of safeguarding human rights not to be used to settle political scores for their godfathers who have no Kwale interests at heart, if they continue with these mind games, i will ask the relevant authorities to investigate them”Achani Said.

Achani disclosed that as the County Chief she had asked all the members of parliament(matuga, Msambweni, LungaLunga and Kinango)to vote yes for the finance bill due to the myriad of challenges Kwale County is facing compared to other regions.

“Our challenges are unique as County and unlike any region we need to be part and parcel of government to benefit from the national government projects that stalled and with the discussion we had with the president we expected that Kwale-Kinango Road, Funzi and Mwachande bridges could be completed this financial year but for now we are not sure after the finance act was withdrawn by the president”Achani Said.

On his part Msambweni Member of the National Assembly Feisal Badar said that he does not regret voting yes for the finance bill saying that he did that for the interest of Kwale County and his constituency that has been marginalized by the previous administration.

Feisal asking the areas residents to give president William Ruto time to implement his development agenda to the electrorates, indicating that kwale County will benefit immensely from Ruto Administration.

Sentiments Echoed by members of the County Assembly led by Minority Leader Tumaini Chaunga and Kinondo Mca Juma Maone who called on the security agencies to arrest the criminal gangs in Diani posing as protestors causing tension and terror to the area resident.
