A 22 years old man from Nandi County, who travelled to Diani in search of employment, was allegedly sexually assaulted by a 74 years old woman after being promised a Sh200,000 ‘salary’.
According to the victim, the woman offered to host him. However she allegedly entered his room at night and demanded sex, threatening to send him to jail if he refused the act.
This left him shocked and desperate with nothing to do in the middle of Mwabungo village, in a house belonging to the son within her compound.
The woman whose husband is reportedly based in the UK turned against the desperate job seeking Gen Z after he demanded his promised salary only for her to rush to the police station and filed a theft case.
He was arrested at night and remanded inside Diani police station for 3 days.
“I was arrested and told that I have stolen money from her. The fact is I have not stolen anything. She took advantage of me,”he said.
His right to prompt court appearance and to be brought before a court within 24 hours of arrest, or the next court day if the time expires were infringed.
After being arrested on 4th February night he was released on 6th February 2026 after paying a bond of Sh10,000 waiting to be taken to Kwale court for hearing.
“I was waiting for the woman to take me to Mombasa to work for another person but when i insisted she pay me my money that is when she got angry with me’ he said.
The woman who is suspecting to be used in luring young unsuspecting boys in Diani to her home for sexual favors is also a well connected business woman in the area.
She is said to have threatened to jail her victim if he refused her sexual advances.
Qsked why he has not reported the SGBV issue the victim said that he was dismissed by a police officer during his arrest.
His family is calling up on Human Rights activists, faith based organizations to intervene and help him get justice.
Msambweni OCPD Robinson Lang’at confirmed the incident saying that investigations are going on.
” There is around Sh30,000 that was sent from the complainant’s phone number to a certain lady that needs to be identified whether there is a connection between her and the suspect,” he said.
He said that if it established that there is no connection, the suspect will be exonerated and his cash bail refunded.
He further said the suspect has not yet reported to the police in his statement about the sexual harassment and he is free to do so.
