Cabinet Secretary for Sports, HE Salim Mvurya, has assured citizens that the National Government is committed to formally recognize and streamline the role of religious leaders, particularly sheikhs and imams, across the country.
Speaking when he graced a fundraising event attended by sheikhs and imams, Mvurya said the Kenya Kwanza Government recognizes the immense contribution of religious leaders in promoting peace, unity and moral values. He noted that the government is developing a policy framework to ensure their recognition nationwide.
Governor Fatuma Achani said religious education forms the foundation of a responsible and progressive society, reaffirming the County Government’s commitment to supporting religious activities and institutions.
The Governor emphasized the critical role played by religious leaders in nurturing morally upright communities and strengthening social cohesion.
Member of Parliament for Lungalunga Mangale Chiforomodo called for the formulation of inclusive policies that recognize and incorporate religious leaders in national governance and community development.
The leaders emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation between the government and religious institutions in advancing the welfare and development of communities.
