Kaloleni Member of Parliament Paul Katana has challenged Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua to unite the nation instead of dividing it.

Speaking in Mnazimmwenga Primary school when he led the groundbreaking ceremony of two classrooms, Katana accused the deputy president serving the interests of the Mt Kenya region.

“The Presidency which Gachagua is part of is a symbol of unity for the country and not mt. Kenya only. Whenever he speaks it’s about mt Kenya. This is wrong for a leader like him who hold the second highest office in the Country. Am expecting to talk about exclusivity,” he said.

The MP further slammed Gachagua for being a bottle neck in the truce between Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Alliance party leader Raila Odinga and President William Ruto.

“Ruto should not listen to Gachagua because he does not wish this country well. He should decide on his own volition if he wants to have a dialogue with Raila or not. Gachagua should not dictate the President,” he said.

He said it is only through dialogue that the country can move forward and prosper.

“Everyone including diaspora agrees that the country is not heading the right direction. Why should it be so hard for leaders to sit down and talk? If things are not working then we should have a conversation to fix this country, prosperity of the nation can only be reached on a round table dialogue,” he added.

Mwanamwinga MCA Edward Ziro said Gachagua should not use the tribal card to punish other regions.

“A leader of Gachagua’s calibre should never be the problem for leaders to dialogue. Let him leave Ruto to use his wisdom and decide what he wants,” he said.
