Acting president and National Assembly speaker Moses Wetangula has called on Kenyans to be united amid hard economic times.
Wetangula said that despite the tough economic times the country is facing it is important for citizens to remain focused and work to support President William Ruto’s administration.
He made the remarks at Danisa village in the Garsen constituency during the commissioning of a secondary school.
He was accompanied by Tana River Senator Danson Mungatana, MPs Ali Wario of Garsen, Majimbo Kalasinga of Kabuchai and Ruweida Mohamed of Lamu East.
Wetagula added that KPR will be restored in Lamu and Tana River Counties.
The speaker said that NGCDF will be enshrined in the constitution so that development can be distributed fairly in the country.
The issue of Kenya Wildlife Service also came up with Wetangula warning that harassment of locals will not be allowed.
“I convey greetings from President William Ruto who is out of the country together with his deputy. He is the only president who has shown interest in working for the people. You should unite behind him so that we can move forward as a country,” he said.
He promised that the CS for interior Kindiki Kithure would tour the area in a bid to resolve security issues across the two counties.
“I have talked to the CS of interior Kithure Kindiki and he has told me that he will come here to talk to you about how you can better your security,” he said.
Garsen MP Ali Wario had complained of insecurity and urged Wetangula to help reinstate KPR in the area.
“We need security and KPR should be restored in our area,” he said.
