Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga urged Coast region residents to register as members to his party.
Mr. Odinga urged the residents Coast region residents to join ODM and support his presidential bid under the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition.
Speaking in a Diani hotel during a delegate meeting, he said he was the best candidate to defeat President William Ruto in the 2027 general elections and bring about positive change in the country.
The opposition leader also promised to address the historical injustices and marginalization facing Coast people, such as land issues, unemployment, poverty, and insecurity.
Implementation of the recommendations Truth, Justice and Reconciliation Commission (TJRC) report and the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) report, he said was one of his priority once elected.
Raila lauded the achievements of the ODM-led county governments in the region, such as Mombasa and Kilifi, saying that they had delivered on their promises to the people.
He asked the residents to re-elect the ODM governors and other leaders in the next polls.
Governor Nassir, who spoke before Mr. Odinga, endorsed the ODM leader for the 2027 presidency, saying that his candidature was “not negotiable”.
He said that Mr. Odinga had proven his patriotism and leadership skills over the years and deserved the support of all Kenyans.
The former prime minister was accompanied by Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Sheriff Nassir and other ODM officials.
