Over 500 patients in Kwale County have received free medical treatment, through a corporate social responsibility program organized by the Kenya Navy, in collaboration with the Kwale County Government at Kinango Sub County Hospital in Kinango Constituency.

During the program, the residents had the opportunity to receive various health services including, free medical screening for cervical cancer, Body Mass Index (BMI) and Vitals, Consultancy Services in mental health, eye services, teeth related issues among others, diagnosis support services and blood donation drive.

This comes at a time when the Kenya Navy is preparing for the ‘Kenya Navy Day’ to be celebrated on 14th December, 2024 as they celebrate 60 years of services in Mombasa.

Speaking at Kinango, the Kenya Navy Chief for Health Services Brigadier Dr. Justino Muinde, said that the free health program aims at helping the residents in the County to get the necessary services as one of the ways of giving back to the society.

“We are conducting these free medical services to return to the community we work with. All these activities are geared towards our celebration for 60 years of services as Kenya Navy.” Said Muinde.

On his part, the Kwale County Chief Officer for Health Curative and rehabilitative services Dr. Kitsao Mjimba said that the County Government will continue to collaborate with the National Government, in order to bring development to the County.

“We are happy for the Collaboration between the County and the National Government for bringing such an event to the County and i hope our people will benefit out of it.” Said Mjimba.

Michael Mumbo and Mwanakombo Suleiman are some of the beneficiaries of the program, thanking the Kwale County Government and the Kenya Navy for organizing the free health camp in Kinango, saying that it has cut down the expenses of looking for similar services in other health facilities.

“This activity has helped us since we have received free treatments, free medicines and I am happy that the services that i was to receive at Msambweni Referral Hospial, i received them here at Kinango Sub County Hospital.” Said Mwanakombo Suleiman.

As the Kwale County Government continues to streamline the health sector in the region, residents have been urged to register for the new Social Health Authority (SHA) for free medical Cover.
