Kwale leaders have called for unity of purpose, cohesion and development.
The new development comes after the leaders from across the county decided to put aside their political indifferences and work together.
On Thursday the leaders held a meeting that was chaired by the Mining Cabinet Secretary and former Governor Salim Mvurya at Jacaranda Hotel in Msambweni sub-county.
The meeting comprised all elected and nominated Kwale leaders from the Governor to MCA.
Speaking in an interview after a four-hour closed-door meeting, Mvurya said the engagement focused on strengthening county and national relationships.
He said they want to focus on development and improve service delivery to benefit common citizens regardless of their different political alignments.
“We have agreed to put aside our political indifferences, move together and speak as one,” he said.
Mvurya said for the county and country to grow and realise its development agendas, leaders must embrace unity.
He said there is no need for leaders to be divided based on different political ideologies but to come together and share insights for more development.
Mvurya also said they discussed the pressing issues affecting the county and how they can find amicable solutions.
Governor Fatuma Achani said cases of protracted land injustices, El Nino, and infrastructure were featured in their discussions.
She said the rains brought great havoc to most of the Kwale roads and residents.
Achani said the session meant to see how leaders can work together and push for appropriate interventions.
She said the politics of division have no room in Kwale and unity is the way forward.
Achani said when leaders work in harmony the county and residents will follow suit hence more development.
County Assembly speaker Seth Mwatela said the meeting was also focused on reviewing some of the bills with the support of the executive side.
He said they are looking forward to approving seven crucial bills that will promote development and address insecurity and gender-based violence.
