A family in Garsen Constituency in Tanariver county is seeking justice after Kenya Wildlife Service rangers allegedly shot their Kin in front of his children at the remote Kone village that is about 167 kilometres from Garsen town.
It is alleged that the deceased Isack Jarso Delo 50 was at his home when about 20 KWS armed rangers stormed his homestead and began searching for him.
Ahmed Abubakar Wario, a brother to the deceased said the KWS rangers demanded to be given unknown number of goats as new year gifts but when he turned them down, they shot him several times and sped off.
Speaking at the Malindi Sub County Hospital Mortuary where the body was taken by Tanadelta Police officers after travelling from Kone said after the shooting the KWS officers came back to collect the body but were repulsed by angry residents who had already informed the Tana Delta Sub County security about the incident.
Police arrived several hours later and transported the body to the Malindi Sub County Hospital Mortuary, 270 kilometers away for postmortem.
Kone borders the Tsavo East National Park and Kitui county .
The incident is not the first one as locals claim many people have been tortured and others killed and their bodies thrown into the park never to be found.
Garsen MP Ali Wario who was at the mortuary condemned the incident and demanded the immediate arrest of the officers involved.
He blamed the KWS management for allowing atrocities by its officers to be meted out to Garsen residents who reside near the park.
