The event attracted competitors from all over Kenya with a count of 133 shooters drawn from various clubs and discipline forces. Kenya’s Finest Master shooter Ibrahim Ndungu emerged the overall winner of the international defensive pistol association championship. Johnson Chengo Environmental activist in Kilifi County has faulted the decision by the state and County government of Kilifi that allowed the approoting and exporting of baobab trees to foreign countries. Gro With Us founder, Kelly Banda referred to the trend as biopiracy, citing that it has a negative impact on the environment, especially Kilifi which is already grappling with severe drought. Over 500 farmers from Bahari and Witu wards in Lamu County have benefitted from 21 freezers and over 500 bucks and heifers. The Lamu county initiative in partnership with World Bank-funded Kenya Climate Smart Agriculture program support to farmers from 38 interest groups is meant to boost dairy and fish farming across the county. Thirteen Self-help groups of people living with disabilities (PWD’s) from Mpeketoni in Lamu County have undergone a financial literacy training. The training that was organized by Muslims Women Advancement for Rights and Protection organization (MWARP) is aimed to equip the PWDs with knowledge on how to understand and carry out their financial responsibilities. “We also want the PWDs to take fully charge of their financial future”, said MWARP Programs Officer James Chapa. By reporter Kwale county’s health sector to get a major boost following plans by AMREF AFRICA in partnership with the national government to set up a state-of-the-art oxygen plant in the county. The sh 99.065 million project will be constructed at the Lunga-Lunga sub-county hospital where it will serve other county health facilities. The Pressurized Swing Absorption oxygen plant will be the biggest oxygen-generating machine in the region. Residents in Kilifi County should prioritize Mangrove tree planting to improve the economy and address the effects of climate change, Grow with us founder Kelly Banda has said. By Coast Times Reporter Barke Mahsen, a girl from Matuga Girls High School, has ended a six-year ‘dry spell’ of Grade A in Kwale County in the just released KCSE examinations.
