The Sport shooters representing Kenya team and various gun clubs held their First IDPA Tier 3 International shooting competition at the BRC Bamburi Rifle Club on the 3rd and 4th February 2023.
The event attracted competitors from all over Kenya with a count of 133 shooters drawn from various clubs and discipline forces.
Kenya’s Finest Master shooter Ibrahim Ndungu emerged the overall winner of the international defensive pistol association championship.
Ndungu’s accuracy, flexibility and speed ensured him garner 183.49 points to continue his dominance in shooting within the country at the start of shooting competition this season.
The chief guests who graced the occasion were officials from the Regulators Firearms Licensing Board who witnessed shooters testing their skills with 12 challenging stages in grueling environmental condition.
Despite the scotching sun, it did not dampen the competitor’s spirits and camaraderie to keep competing to their best of abilities.
In the ESP Master category, Eric Wachira was declared the winner with 221.45 points and the second position went to Mike Kiptanui 227.26 points.
In the CCP master/ industry shooting instructor Sammy Onyango emerged the winner with 248.15 points.
In the Expert Category Inspector of police Mohamed Adan got 301.14 points to win the first position followed by Soi Kilonzo at the second position with 315.15 points.
In the men PCC category, Geoffrey Pesa was declared the winner with 189.98 points while in the Expert category sharp shooter Adan Barrow obtained 197.76 points to take the first position. The second position and third went to James Ekaale with 244.09 Points and Mahamad Ramadhan with 282.49 points respectively.
In the ladies’ categories, SSP marksman Irine Ndunda won with 295.10 points.the second position went to Agatha Muchiri with 392.90 points while Alice Njuguna was third with 428.64 points. In the ESP MARKSMAN category, Joel Lesikamoi was declared the winner with 358.69 points. Second position went to Grace Wanjiku with 397.74 Points and Ronoh Kipkirui scoped the third position with 455.77 points
The Chairman Bamburi rifle club Abdulhakim Daud urged members to ensure they complete their IDPA affiliation registration and classification so that we can increase the numbers,grow the game to greater heights ,attain match points to qualify for travels and participation to the IDPA WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS
scheduled for October 12-14, 2023, at the CMP Talladega Marksmanship Park, in Talladega, Alabama,USA .
Echoing the sentiments, Instructor Sammy Onyango said that the success of the event will guarantee that Bamburi Rifle Club hosts the Africa championship in the year 2024.
