About 3000 workers depending on Kwale international sugar company might lose their jobs if fire incidents continue to burn cane farms leaving the company with nothing to crush for sugar production in Kwale. Lamu County governor Issa Timamy has commissioned a new maternity wing at Mpeketoni Sub County hospital. The project which is in partnership with the Safaricom Foundation, will address maternal and newborn health emergencies. The modern fully equipped 32 bed capacity maternity wing which had stalled four years ago, comprises a newborn unit and maternity theatre. A section of casual workers from the Kilifi county government have slammed Kilifi woman member of National assembly Getrude Mbeyu for her attack on Kilifi governor Gideon Mung’aro.
