A section of casual workers from the Kilifi county government have slammed Kilifi woman member of National assembly Getrude Mbeyu for her attack on Kilifi governor Gideon Mung’aro.

During the thanksgiving ceremony for Kilifi deputy governor Flora Chibule two weeks ago Mbeyu castigated Mung’ro for allegedly failing to pay wages for the casual workers.

However, the casuals claimed that Mung’aro has been paying their dues after every three months.

Addressing journalists in Kilifi Town on Wednesday, Lucky Mwatsuma said that Mung’aro saved them from being dismissed when he took office.

“Mbeyu has no moral authority to lecture Mung’aro on how to handle us. Mung’aro is the one who stopped the county public service board from laying us off. We are grateful to him. She should know that Mung’aro is not her equal and should stop meddling on casual workers affairs,” he said

The public service board issued a notice to terminate the services of all casuals in Kilifi at the end of the tenure of Amason Kingi as Kilifi governor.

Mung’aro declined the order and instead called for an audit of all the casual workers.

David Janji, another casual worker warned Mbeyu against using the casuals to settle her political scores with the governor.

“Mbeyu should know that Mung’aro is a sober leader and he does not need lectures from her. She should handle issues in her office first before lecturing other leaders,” he said

Saum Mwandeje from Watamu said the woman MP is losing focus and should concentrate on her mandate.

”We elected her to represent our matters at the national assembly but what we are seeing is that she has totally lost focus,” she added.

However, contacted for comments the woman rep Getrude Mbeyu did not pick up our calls before going for publication.
