Four among eight talented girls footballers from Kwale County have secured a chance in the Kenya Sports Academy trials after impressive playing at the Talanta Hela football competition.
The competition, aimed at nurturing young football talents, provided a platform for the girls to showcase their skills and earn recognition.
The successful girls who will now join the prestigious Kenya Sports Academy are Mwanakombo Nlela Ndiro, Habiba Japhet, Fauza Nekesa, and Hilda Ruhusa.
This comes after the young athletes demonstrated exceptional talent and determination, earning them the opportunity to further develop their skills at the academy.
The news of their qualification have been met with excitement and pride in Kwale County.
CECM department of social services and Talent management madam Francisca Kilonzo applauded their achievements and recognized their potential to become future sports stars.
She expressed her delight and commended the girls for their hard work and dedication.
“The government will continue to support and nurture young talents like Mwanakombo, Habiba, Fauza, and Hilda.They have shown great potential, and we are confident that they will represent our county and the country at large with pride,” said CECM Kilonzo.
The Talanta Hela football competition is part of the ongoing efforts to identify and groom young talents in Kenya.
The finals of the competition were held in Nairobi in December 2023, attracting talented girls from various parts of the country.
The competition showcased the skills and abilities of these young athletes, providing them with a platform to catch the attention of talent scouts and selectors.
