Kilifi governor Gedion Mung’aro has disband the county public service board with immediate effect over nepotism in hiring of staff besides gross abuse of public office.

Mung’aro claimed that the board led by chairperson Rose Ngoa was not delivering on their mandate inline with the county government law.

Speaking outside his residence office in Kilifi, Mung’aro said the board members were accorded enough time to represent grounds for defeanse before the county assembly but failed.

“I have taken time to go through the full report and having considered the submission made by the practice and the decision reached by relevant committee member of the assembly which was adopted anonymously under section 55 of the county government Act 2012 which dictates what must be done by the appointing authorities, it is clearly they violated the law.,” said Mung’aro

Other county board member who were kicked out include, Raymond Mramba, Alphonce Mrima and Patience Mwangiri all are members.

The governor stated that they have already forwarded names to the county assembly for vetting.

“The new board is expected to be recruited very soon. We have forward names to the county assembly for vetting,” he said.

In the interim, the governor said the secretariet will carry out all the duties that do not require approval of the board.

He also said that the board failed to represent their reports to the county assembly for the last 3 years.

“The board is supposed to present their report every year to the county assembly for the work they have done but they failed, to do so,” said the governor.

Last week, the county assembly held a meeting and anonymously voted out to disband the board.

A county public service board is charged with the responsible of developing and implementing human resource policies and framework for the county.

When public service board chairperson Rose Ngoa was contacted for a comment on the allegation, she attributed the removal to political connected and self-interest meant to tarnish her name.

“This is political as much as I can tell,” she said.
