Mwalupa has been the acting clerk for the last four years following the impeachment of former clerk Hamisi Dzila before the resignation of Denis Musyoka in 2019.

The County Assembly of Kwale approved Mwalupa as the new Clerk of the County Assembly of Kwale.

The assembly service board report on the recruitment of the county assembly clerk was submitted before the House, by the Board Vice Chairperson Victor Safari Nyanje.

The Kasemeni ward MCA moved the motion to approve Mwalupa’s appointment during a special sitting.

Dzombo ward MCA Douglas Chimako Tsuma seconded the motion which was supported by the majority of the house members.

The approval came after weeks of a rigorous recruitment process after interviews by Assembly Service Board that were conducted on 14th July 2023.

Members who stood in support of the motion include Yusuf Sengeza MCA- Mkongani Ward who said that Mwalupa was capable and up to the task.

Waa-Ng’ombeni MCA Said Mwafujo lauded Mwalupa saying she can handle assembly issues after being behind the wheel for the last four years.

Nominated MCA Josephine Kinyanjui said that Mwalupa’s appointment was a clear indication that she has the capacity of leadership.

Kwale county assembly Speaker Seth Mwatela Kamanza the Chairperson of the Assembly Service Board thanked members for making the entire process a success.
