Kwale County is set to partner with the Kenya Export Promotion and Branding Agency (KEPROBA) and the Kenya Investment Authority (KenInvest) to position the region as a leading hub for tourism and investment.
The initiative is part of the county’s efforts to enhance its appeal and attract investors, fostering economic development and creating job opportunities for the local population.
Governor Fatuma Achani affirmed her administration’s dedication to working with key stakeholders to raise Kwale’s profile as a premier destination for tourism and investment, ultimately improving the quality of life for residents.
“The county government is fully committed to collaborating with KEPROBA and KenInvest to turn our vision of making Kwale a top destination for investment and tourism into a reality,” she said.
The governor made the remarks during a business forum held at Coral Beach in Msambweni sub-county.
The forum brought together investors and various business stakeholders.
Achani said the county has rich resources and a conducive environment for businesses to thrive.
She said her admistration looking forward to work with investors as deliberate steps to transform Kwale into a leading destination for tourism and investment and unlock vast economic opportunities for the people as well as improving their quality of life.
Kwale County, located along Kenya’s coast, boasts a variety of tourism attractions, including pristine beaches, wildlife, cultural heritage sites, and adventure tourism opportunities.
The region is home to popular destinations like Diani Beach, Shimba Hills National Reserve, and Kisite-Mpunguti Marine National Park, among others.
However, while the county’s tourism industry has steadily grown over the years, there is still untapped potential in the sector.
In addition to its tourism potential, Kwale is rich in natural resources, including minerals such as titanium, which is being mined in the region.
These resources, coupled with the county’s strategic location along the Indian Ocean, offer immense opportunities for investment in sectors such as mining, agriculture, and real estate.
Governor Achani said that by effectively marketing Kwale’s unique strengths and potential, the county will attract a diverse range of investors.
“We are not just focusing on one sector. While tourism remains a key pillar, we are also keen on promoting other sectors, such as agriculture and mining, which have immense potential for growth and job creation,” she said.
Achani said that her administration has been diligently working to create a more investor-friendly environment with efforts  focused on improving the ease of doing business by streamlining processes and ensuring that investors feel welcomed and fully supported throughout their engagement with the county.
She assured investors that Kwale is safe and a hub for numerous opportunities.
“I want to take this opportunity to thank all the investors who have already chosen Kwale, and I extend a warm invitation to others in various sectors to come and invest in our beautiful county,” she said.
She said the county’s goal is to create a conducive environment where businesses can thrive and, in turn, contribute to the economic growth.
