Kwale government has committed to supporting arts and culture for youth to realize their full potential and hone their talents.

County Executive for Social Services and Talent Management Francisca Kilonzo said the county is keen on creating a conducive environment for talent exposure and empowerment programmes to support talent development.

She said the county has constructed a recording studio, amphitheatre and social halls for various youth to train and build their skills across the county.

“Her Excellency Governor Fatuma Achani is determined to invest in youth through talent nurturing and development,” she said.

Kilonzo said the county recognizes the importance of empowering youth through sports and talent nurturing.

The county executive said talent development helps youth stay away from drugs and criminal activities and promotes peace.

She said Achani’s administration will ensure youth have a platform to showcase their talents and uplift the lives of young artists, sportsmen and women.

Kilonzo said talents are paying off if well cultivated and traded.

She made the remarks during a talent search event held at Kwale Cultural Centre in Matuga sub-county on Saturday.

Nova Records organised the event in partnership with the county.

The program seeks to scout music talents and equip youth with the necessary skills to grow in the region.

Hundreds of youth turned out for the occasion and to give their best in showcasing their hidden talents.

The qualifiers are expected to do music collaboration with the greatest music producers and songwriters from Kenya to help them break through the industry.

Kilonzo said such events will open up opportunities for youth to expose talents and grow professionally.

“This is a platform for upcoming artists to receive proper nurturing and mentorship to succeed in the competitive music industry,” she said.

The talent management executive said the program is significant in the development of local music.

She said the talent search event acts as a catalyst for creativity and growth of the music industry in Kwale.

Kilonzo said the initiative is a stepping stone for the local musicians to realize their dreams and become professionals.

The Social Services Executive advised youth to take advantage of the opportunity to develop their music careers.

She emphasized the youth to work hard and observe a high sense of discipline as noticing comes on a silver platter.

Kilonzo said hard work pays and it is through trying and failing that one gets stability and progresses further.

She hailed the event’s organizers adding that it is an exciting venture that not only celebrates the rich cultural heritage of the county but also highlights the diverse talents of the youth.
