A pregnant woman died with her two unborn babies after giving birth to a third child at Kikoneni Health Center on Wednesday morning.

Coast Times Digital has learnt that the deceased who has been attending the clinic at the facility was not aware that she had triplets.

Upon arrival, the woman was assisted to give birth but later died as the only ambulance serving LungaLunga Subcounty had rushed a patient to Msambweni Referral Hospital.

It is not clear why the Kikoneni hospital in charge of the pregnant women section did not advise the deceased to do scanning to know the status of her pregnancy.

Health officials who spoke to Coast Times Digital said that the hospital has been notorious for such incidents.

Early this year another woman gave birth to triplets with one of the child dying due to lack of oxygen.

Failure to refer such cases to LungaLunga or Msambweni hospitals have cost lives of innocent unborn babies.

Locals who spoke to the media said that the hospital management needs to take responsibility for their actions.

Sad indeed after 9 months pregnancy then a loss.Health Centres should be equipped with at least one ambulance to salvage such scenarios .

Its so painful.May God give enough comfort to the family at this griefing moment.
Hon.Governor fatuma Achani is doing a serious transformation in the Health sector through the chief officer of Health by ensuring ultrasound equipment and sonographers are available in places like lunga lunga, mnyenzeni, samburu, kinango,Tiwi and mkongani to give timely services to gravid mothers and prevent such occurrences.
