Former Kwale girls student Mwanahamisi Mwateuzi Mwamare who scored a B- in her KCSE is now working as a house help after Kenya University and Colleges Central Placement Services (Kuccps )unsuccessful application.
The 24-year-old girl from Mlafyeni village, Mwaluphamba location in Matuga constituency within Kwale County sat for her KCSE exam at Kwale Girls in 2024 but her dream of becoming a Nurse is almost being shattered due to object poverty.
Mwanahamisi said her challenges began after the death of her late father
Speaking in Likoni during a public forum Mwanamisi said that her primary and secondary education was sponsored by a Muslim organization called the Bilal Muslim mission of Kenya because she is from a background of extreme poverty.
Mwanahamisi is currently working as a house help in Likoni earning a salary of Ksh.5,000 with hopes she will one day join Kibabii university to pursue her dream .
She told Coast Times Digital that her effort to apply for clinical medicine courses has always failed through Kuccps making it difficult for her to get university entry.
“I have also tried to apply for a KMTC course but it has not worked. My application has always been rejected and I don’t know why?” She posed.
Mwanamisi says in 2025 she applied but failed, tried again in 2026 and nothing came through.
She is calling for support to ensure her application is accepted for her university placement.
Kwale county education executive Committee member Mishi Mwakaole said that she will meet the girl on Wednesday for plans on how to help her navigate the Kuccps application.
“Let’s her come so that we can see how to help,” she told Coast Times Digital.
