By Nuru Salim A newborn baby was discovered abandoned in a garbage pit at Sofia, Maji Safi area, early morning on the 1st of January. The infant, rescued while still attached to her placenta was spotted by a child who had gone to dispose of household waste. It was noticed that the baby had been left in the garbage pit for at least 12 hours overnight before being discovered in the morning according to medical report.
