A suspected member of notorious panga-wielding gangs operating around the airport area was today saved by police from the jaws of mob justice.

He was senselessly beaten for allegedly attacking a woman after snatching her phone.

It was after his victim raised alarm when locals traced him and started beating their prey after weeks of complaints that the gang has been stealing and attacking innocent people.

He was saved by police at Diani chief area who were on their way to Msambweni hospital mortuary to drop a body of a drowning incident along the beach.

Medical officers are working around the clock to save his life.

By the time of filing this publication, he was still unconscious caused by a thorough beating.

An eye witness said that the suspect was forced to name his accomplices who he named as the mob tortured him.

The incident took place a day after locals raised concern through Diani Watsap Facebook page that a dangerous panga group is terrorising locals along the airport road at night.

Others claimed that the group was also active in the Ibiza area while another gang using guns was operating along the Ajab area in Mvindeni.

Recently the gun gang is reported to have snatched a handbag belonging to one of the bar owners in Diani.

It is also reported that the gang stormed the bar and stole money.

Investigation into the incidents according to area police is going on.
