Rabai member of parliament Anthony Kenga, has cautioned school going children against involving in boda-boda business during the holiday season as they risk their lives.

Kenga advised parents to be vigilant as he calls on youth in the transport sector to observe traffic rules.

Speaking after issuing interim driving licenses to over 350 youth from Rabai, the MP called on patience as plans are on to equip the youth with relevant skills for self-reliance.

“As my office reaches out to different stakeholders to have our youth empowered with skills and armed with relevant documents, we cannot wait to lose our children by endangering their lives through motorbike riding without licenses.” Noted the legislature who called on parents to ensure safety of our young children especially during this holiday.

Kenga assured Rabai youth of more plans from the government, his office and other partners geared towards empowering them calling on endurance as execution is on.

According to Remsafe driving school director, Edith Kananu, equipping youth with driving licenses will bring sanity on the roads as well as save more lives.

Kananu urged leaders and other stakeholders to consider training programs for the youth, adding that,

“Training the youth will go a long way in opening employment opportunities for them. Today we have issued interim licenses and driving certificates and in less than a month all the youth will be having their driving licenses valid for 3 years.”

Ali Ndune is among the beneficiaries whom according to him, it’s a dream for him to have a driving license.

“I have been working in the boda-boda sector but I didn’t raise funds to step into a driving collage. I believe I am not alone. We have more youths who would wish to have licenses; as I thank my MP I request him to extend this program to more youth, targeting my fellow boda boda riders.” Noted Ndune.

However, Josephat Kalu, in charge of safety training, at Remsafe Driving school, called on all drivers to be cautious especially during this rain season.

Kalu urged all drivers to adhere to traffic rules, observe the rule of seeing and being seen while on the road by switching lights on while driving in rainy weather.
