Three form three students from Likoni are among six people who died on Sunday Morning in a road accident at Denyenye area in Kwale county.

Police reports indicate that five died on the spot. The sixth person died while getting medical attention at Diani Beach Hospital.

Eye witnesses said that the rider of the motorcycle was carrying six passengers instead of one according to traffic rules.

According to the police the lorry had stalled on the road when the rider who was speeding rammed into it from the rear side.

Coast Regional Police boss George Sedah said the number of pillion passengers on the motorcycle were many during the incident when the motorcycle was being ridden from Kombani towards Likoni.

Reports indicate that the deceased were armed with Pangas during the incidents .

Family members who spoke to Coast Times Digital said that the six from the same village were going home from a night disco.

β€œIt is sad that we are going to bury all of them on Sunday in the same village. They were coming from a night disco when the accident happened,” said one of the family members.

Two of the deceased are brothers Rama Juma Mwachoyo and Rashid Juma Mwachoyo set to be buried on Sunday alongside Sufiani Abdallah and others.

He called on road users to be cautious for their safety.

The bodies have been moved to the Kwale Hospital Mortuary for identification and autopsy awaiting to be buried according to Islamic rules.

Road carnage has been on the rise with the recent road accident along Kitui-Kibwezi road claiming six school going children.
