Kilifi county government will ensure that 30 per cent Access to government procurement opportunities are taken by women, youths and people with disability.

Governor Gideon Mung’aro said that his administration is focused on making the dream a reality to the residents.

He said that his administration will work under the Access to Government procurement opportunities program to ensure all tenders meant for the youths, women and disabled groups are beneficial to them.

“I desire to see 30 per cent of Access to Government Procurement Opportunities (AGPO) go to Women, Youth and People with Disabilities (PWDs,” he added.

He made the remarks when he presided over a session organized by the Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) through their Biashara Club Forum, with Entrepreneurs drawn within Kilifi town and its environs.

In support of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), he said that his administration is in discussion with Commercial banks including KCB on areas of partnership and operations.

“We want to see how to run the Wezesha Fund, (formerly Mbegu Fund), to reach more people and enhance its productivity,” he said.

In a bid to give back to the community, KCB bank has undertaken to lower its rates for youths and women when accessing loans to support their businesses.

Mung’aro welcomed the program being undertaken by the bank saying it is in the right direction to support the youths and women businesses.
