Kilifi Governor Gideon Mung’aro has ordered all County Executive Committee Members and their chief officers to leave their offices and work in the field as a way of ensuring service delivery to the people is achieved.

Mr. Mung’aro made the announcement, dubbed “County Mashinani at the county headquarters during the unveiling of new appointees to his government.

The program, he said, seeks to improve service delivery and will see the CECMs and Chief Officers move across the county to access ongoing projects, launch new projects, and conduct public participation so as to ensure the needs of the people of Kilifi are met.

“I want all my CECs and Chief Officers to be in the field working.” I will flag them off on Monday. “They will access the existing projects and infrastructure, conduct public participation, and make themselves available to the people of Kilifi,” he said.

He said there was no need for the executives to be in offices looking for tenders as there was a lot of work at the grassroots to be implemented.

To him, the County Mashinani program will ensure that members of the public are involved and that CECMs and Chief Officers are actively involved in implementing the development agenda of the administration.

Top among those appointed is vocal Kilifi Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) youth leader Fikirini Katoi Kahindi commonly known as Fikirini Jacobs who has been appointed as a director of the Governor’s Delivery Unit, while Raphael Diwani will be the Director, Administration, in the office of the Governor.

Others are also appointed: Effie Katana as the Director Liaison Office of the Governor, Karisa Mwaringa, the Director Enforcement Office of the Governor; Berita Choka, the Chief of Staff in the Office of the Governor; and Rev. Tom Dawa who will be the principal officer in charge of monitoring and evaluation.

The county boss said the new team will go a long way in ensuring service delivery to the people of Kilifi.

“The above appointees bring a wealth of experience and expertise, having worked in different levels of government and the private sector. I believe that with them on board, our service delivery will be enhanced,” he said.

Mung’aro also announced that he had submitted five names to the county assembly for approval.

He said the members from different sectors will constitute a panel tasked with recruiting the county secretary and the head of the Public Service Board.

They include Tukero Ole Kina (Chairperson), Humphrey Safari (KNUT), Ningala Kalachu (Private Sector), Lucky Mnyazi (Advocate), and Leonard Jeffa .
