A Kwale journalist has been arrested by Tanzania authorities at the HoroHoro one border stop Kenyan side in LungaLunga Kwale.

This is after visiting the area to document human rights officials who were in the place for a fact finding mission following the Tanzania protests after a disputed general election on Wednesday 29 October 2025.

Shoka Juma, a reporter with Nyota TV had started preparing to take videos as the civil society officers stood watching over the area when a Tanzania police officer is said to have crossed over Kenya and pretended to talk to him before taking him away.

According to Africa concern, citizen organization official Bradley Ouna Shoka was sweet-talked by the Tanzania official before they took him into their cells.

“We were together that is MUHURI,VOCAL AFRICA AND AFRICA CONCERN CITIZEN organizations officials when Shoka was called by a Tanzania police probably pretending to want to enquire something from him when he had taken out his tools of trade to start documenting our visit at the border,” Bradley told Coast Times Digital.

He said that they were on a fact finding mission when the incident occurred at the border post while blaming the Tanzania officers for the uncalled for incident.

“After they started talking to Shoka they also called us to go but we sensed danger and retreated back. That is when he was taken away. They have no reason to arrest Kenya on a fact finding mission on the Kenya side,” he said.

They had to run for their lives leaving their vehicle behind foe fear of being arrested.

The Human rights organizations have condemned the act and called on Kenyan government to restrict Tanzania police from accessing to Kenya.

There has been tension along the Kenya and Tanzania borders after demonstrations erupted following general election that has seen citizens oppose claiming it was unfair.

Several businesses and government installations in Tanzania have since been destroyed following a widespread demonstrations.

In Namanga one stop border post chaos erupted after Tanzania police injured Kenyans. The incident occurred as Kenyans vowed to join their Tanzania counter part in demonstrations to oppose president Samia Suluhu move to lock out her oppoents in the general election.
