Kwale County is still remembering the UDA economic charter public participation held at the county headquarters during the campaign period of the last general elections for one big reason.

The first presentation on cashew-nuts and coconut done by one Mr Ali Mondo before the president William Ruto by then the deputy president will forever remain in their minds.

Coast Time Digital team visited Mondo to understand what happened after his wonderful presentation which was applauded by among the people present Prime Minister Musalia Mudavadi, then Governor Salim Mvurya, Moses Wetangula, Alfred Mutua, governor Fatuma Achani, the president himself and the Kwale people.

“The speech was my turning point; it opened many doors to my current success, rising from a hustler to the county chief Agent for both presidential and gubernatorial UDA candidates, identifying, training and facilitating all Kwale polling agents,” he said.

After the Kwale UDA team delivered the governor seat, Msambweni,Matuga and Kinango seats, Mondo got a direct invitation to the state house from president William Ruto.

“Am a proud man today after winning in Kwale, I got an invitation from the president for a thanksgiving lunch at the state house,” he said.

It was his first time to set foot in the State house, something that he had never imagined since his childhood.

“Do you remember during the economic charter public participation?  The president William Ruto asked our current governor Fatuma Achani to include me in her government and that is how she nominated me for tours and trade CECM,” he posed.

Mondo wondered why the assembly cut short his dream of being the county Tourism CECM on political grounds, directing blame to the opposition MCAs claiming they form the majority and thus controlling the house businesses.

“I know this is the price I am paying for my stand to support the president William Ruto and our governor Fatuma Achani. In this journey, patience is very key and when one door is closed many more are opened. I remain strong and very much committed to our government,” he added.

In his parting shot, Mondo said that “This is not the right time to buy fear from opposition. The government agenda is our agenda and that we should focus on the goal”.
